Maintenance Lead

Summary: Creates operating systems utilizing electronic and visual management systems to lead improvement of business processes that proactively addresses health, safety, environmental and facilities issues. Leads the continuous improvement of departmental support of the preventative maintenance program, including: critical equipment maintenance scheduling, managing spare parts / supplies inventory and creating maintenance procedures. Directs the activities of maintenance personnel. Maintains and repairs facility, equipment and grounds to ensure a safe, secure, clean, organized and functioning facility. Coordinates activities with outside vendors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on equipment, implements corrective action and refines preventative maintenance planning.
  • Mentors and motivates associates, providing training and development to optimize their performance and personal growth
  • Schedules and manages repairs and develops standard operating procedures for preventative maintenance.
  • Analyzes and records cause of production delays on daily production report. Maintains and reports other required operational information to management.
  • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with OSHA and local regulatory agencies
  • Continuously evaluates PM/PDM activities and frequencies to ensure optimum use of manpower and resources in maximizing equipment reliability.
  • Monitor the efficiencies of the production lines, paying special attention for maintenance and mechanical trends.
  • Maintains function and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by implementing a preventive maintenance program; operating and testing systems and equipment; restoring, repairing, rebuilding, or replacing faulty or inoperative components and parts.
  • Performs highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility s equipment.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of the facility does not deteriorate.
  • Requisitions new parts / instruments and records the type and cost of maintenance or repair work.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge of electronic and electrical principals.
  • Knowledge of methods used in maintenance and building repair (e. g. basic knowledge of uniform code books, electrical wiring, plumbing, carpentry, glass replacement, painting, and grounds maintenance including sprinkler systems, pest management, maintenance and repair of production equipment).
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues, identify solutions, and execute repairs related to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, electro-mechanical production equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blue prints, schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Demonstrated metrology skills (micrometers, calipers).
  • Skill and Ability to:
    • Forecast project problems and make adjustments as needed.
    • Plan and coordinate work schedules
    • Assist in training, planning and directing the maintenance staff
    • Lead maintenance continuous improvement activities
    • Maintain inventory records of equipment and supplies
    • Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
    • Read and interpret specifications and blueprints
    • Perform a variety of physical labor including climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing for long periods of time; lift and carry boxes, tools, equipment and materials
    • Provide technical support as the working lead
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, students, and community.
  • Communication Skills The ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally with all levels of supervision on the status of jobs.
  • Equipment Maintenance Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Installation Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
  • Manual Dexterity The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
  • Repairing Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
  • Troubleshooting Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Time Management The ability to manage one's own time and/or the time of others.
  • Written Comprehension The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

Computer Skills:To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient personal computer skills, including routine database activity and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook E-mail software, Internet software, Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software. ERP/database experience is a plus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); and 5+ years related industrial maintenance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and production maintenance experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Associate s Degree in a technical field or trade certification preferred.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience writing maintenance procedures
    • Knowledge and experience with Preventative Maintenance programs
    • Project management experience
    • Previous oversight of spare equipment program

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
